The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission on Thursday said that it was collaborating with the Ministry of Tourism in the search for religious sites across the country.

The Executive Secretary, NCPC, Rev. Yakubu Pam, while addressing journalists in Abuja noted that identification and investing in local religious sites in the country will attract foreign investors and boost tourism.

Pam said “Recently, we had the Minister of Tourism who prepared an agenda for the pilgrim board to look inward to some of the holy sites within the country to attract foreign investors and those who love sites seeing.

“We are working on that with the Ministry and very soon, we will make our progress known.”

On the Commission’s readiness to commence the completion of the 2023 Easter pilgrimage exercise, the Executive Secretary explained “We are here to let you know that the Easter pilgrimage will continue. We have 1,000 pilgrims that are still on the ground to be taken to complete the Easter pilgrimage.

“We had little challenges that made us stop the operation but we will complete the Easter pilgrimage from September 18. We have the remaining pilgrims in Lagos, Bayelsa, Imo, Federal Capital Territory, Delta, and Bauchi states.”

Pam added that plans are on the ground to commence the main pilgrimage exercise in December 2023.
