The Olubadan palace has released the 2026 Oloolu masquerade movement schedule, listing Ibadan communities the traditional procession will visit from July 28 to 30

The palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland has released the movement schedule for the 2026 Oloolu Masquerade Festival, outlining the communities the masquerade will visit during the annual celebration.

The itinerary, signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan, Chief Ayoade Olugbemigbe, showed that the Oloolu Masquerade will move through designated areas of Ibadan from Tuesday, July 28, to Thursday, July 30.

According to the schedule, the masquerade will begin its daily procession by 4:00 p.m. and continue until dawn as part of activities marking the traditional festival.

The palace urged residents and participants to maintain peace and ensure that the celebration is conducted in line with the customs and traditions of Ibadanland.

The 2026 Oloolu Masquerade Festival began on Monday, July 27, with Aisun Odun Oloolu, which marks the eve of the celebration.

Earlier, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, appealed to residents and participants to ensure a peaceful festival.

The monarch also reiterated traditional restrictions surrounding the masquerade, including the prohibition of women seeing the Oloolu Masquerade and warnings against taking photographs or recording videos during the procession.

Oba Ladoja further cautioned masquerade groups, religious adherents and members of the public against actions that could disrupt peace or cause a breakdown of law and order during the festival.
