    Edo state governor; Godwin Obaseki has pledged a generous prize of $35,000 for the upcoming Edo State International Film Festival.

    The announcement was made during a keynote address at the festival’s industry mixer in Lagos State, which aims to bolster the creative sector within the state.

    Governor Obaseki reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the creative industry, emphasizing Edo State’s aspiration to compete with Lagos as a burgeoning creative hub in Africa.

    The governor’s vision demonstrates a promising trajectory for the region’s artistic endeavors. Additionally, Governor Obaseki addressed the issue of stolen artifacts from Benin, stressing that while repatriation may not be immediate, the ownership of these artifacts should be rightfully restored to Nigeria, even if they continue to be displayed abroad.

    During the event, the governor engaged with creative and Nollywood professionals, setting the stage for the much-anticipated film festival scheduled later this year.
