The Olu of Ifoland Oba Samuel Atanda Oladipupo, JP, has passed away, joining his ancestors in accordance with Egba tradition.

The palace confirmed that the revered monarch, known for his wisdom and dedication to peace, died on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

According to the official statement from the royal family, traditional rites and Oro activities will take place from Tuesday, October 14 to Thursday, October 16, 2025, between 12:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. daily.

The announcement urges residents to respect the customs and maintain peace throughout the mourning period.

In a show of strong leadership and respect for heritage, all Baales have been directed to oversee their respective domains, ensuring that activities remain peaceful and civilised during the traditional observances.

A high-powered committee has also been inaugurated to ensure full compliance with Egba cultural protocols and to uphold the dignity associated with the passage of an Oba of Ifoland’s stature.

The palace assured that the community will be kept informed as events unfold, reaffirming that the late monarch’s enduring legacy of unity and discipline will continue to guide Ifoland through this solemn period.
