The Federal Government has endorsed the Cultural Hangout Festival 2025 in Abuja, recognising it as a platform for celebrating migrants and cultural diversity
Cultural Hangout Festival 2025 has received official endorsement from the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, marking a significant boost for the upcoming Abuja event dedicated to celebrating migrants and promoting cultural diversity.
Scheduled for December 12–13, 2025, the festival is an initiative of the Platform for Cooperation on Mixed Migration (PCMM) and will commemorate the United Nations International Migrants Day under the theme: “Honouring the Contributions of Migrants and Respecting Their Rights.”
In an endorsement letter signed by Dr Mukhtar Yawale Muhammed, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, the Federal Government described the festival as “a valuable platform that celebrates migrants, promotes cultural diversity, and projects Nigeria as a centre for dialogue on migration and inclusion.”
The Ministry also called on “the general public, development partners, and cultural stakeholders to support and collaborate with PCMM towards the successful hosting of the festival.”
Reacting to the government’s endorsement, Aihawu Victor, Director of PCMM and Chief Executive Officer of the Cultural Hangout Festival, said the move reflects Nigeria’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity and its openness to migrants.
“Nigeria continues to stand out as a country that not only hosts migrants but gives them space to thrive,” Victor said, commending the Federal Government for recognising the importance of cultural dialogue in promoting social cohesion.
The Cultural Hangout Festival Abuja 2025 will feature country community tents, art and cultural showcases, trade exhibitions, and youth engagement sessions, all designed to amplify migrant voices and foster unity through cultural exchange.
With the Federal Government’s backing, the festival is poised to serve as a powerful platform for celebrating diversity, strengthening integration, and positioning Nigeria as a regional hub for creative and cultural diplomacy.
