Chocolate City sues Odumodublvck over a ₦50m assault claim linked to an alleged backstage incident at the 2025 Flytime Festival in Lagos
Nigerian record label Chocolate City has filed a legal action against rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, over an alleged backstage assault involving a staff member during the 2025 Flytime Festival in Lagos.
The lawsuit, filed at the High Court of Lagos State by Chocolate City’s Project Manager and Public Relations Officer, seeks ₦50 million in damages over claims that the rapper assaulted a staff member while the employee was carrying out official duties at the event.
Court documents reportedly stated that the incident occurred on December 22, 2025, at the Eko Convention Centre, where the annual Flytime Festival was held.
According to the claim, the staff member was working backstage while supporting a Chocolate City artiste who was performing at the festival.
The legal documents alleged that Odumodublvck entered the backstage area, where several people, including artistes, security personnel and accredited festival workers, were present.
The claimant alleged that after brief interactions within the area, the rapper approached him and questioned whether he or his brother had any connection with Chocolate City.
The claimant further alleged that the situation escalated, with Odumodublvck allegedly striking him in the face and pushing him while issuing threats.
A security official was reportedly called to intervene, although the claimant alleged that the confrontation continued before it was eventually brought under control.
Following the incident, the staff member said he received medical attention at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), where he was reportedly treated for injuries including facial and neck pain, swelling, headaches and emotional distress.
The claimant also alleged that the incident affected his professional responsibilities, including plans to travel abroad with a Chocolate City artiste during the festive period.
The lawsuit reportedly includes claims for medical expenses, additional personal costs and losses linked to disrupted work commitments.
The staff member is seeking ₦50 million in damages, citing alleged physical injuries, psychological impact, reduced productivity and missed professional opportunities.
Chocolate City confirmed that legal proceedings had commenced but has not disclosed further details about the case.
The allegations remain claims before the court, and Odumodublvck has not been found liable for any wrongdoing.
The rapper, who has emerged as one of Nigeria’s most prominent new-generation hip-hop acts, gained widespread recognition through his energetic performances and hit songs that have contributed to the renewed popularity of indigenous rap on the Nigerian music scene.
The case will now proceed through the legal process, where both sides are expected to present their arguments before the court.
