Anto Lecky Edo appointment confirmed as SSA on tourism and creative economy, aiming to boost heritage tourism and culture under Governor Okpebholo’s leadership


Senator Monday Okpebholo, governor of Edo State, has appointed Munirat Anto Lecky as senior special assistant on tourism and creative economy.

The appointment took effect on June 23, 2025, and was confirmed in a letter signed by Umar Musa Ikhilor, secretary to the state government.

Lecky, a former Big Brother Naija housemate and media entrepreneur, currently serves as special assistant on digital and new media to Shuaibu Audu, Minister of Steel Development.

She is expected to bring her creative industry experience to support the state’s tourism and cultural development.

According to the letter, the appointment aligns with Governor Okpebholo’s agenda to unlock Edo’s heritage tourism potential, particularly in light of the return of the Benin Bronzes and related museum projects.

“The governor of Edo state, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved your appointment as senior special assistant to the governor on tourism and creative economy with effect from June 23, 2025,” the letter reads.

Lecky responded via Instagram: “I am honoured to serve my state and my country in this new role. With the return of our priceless Benin Bronzes, upcoming museum projects, and a growing creative sector, Edo is poised to become a leader in Nigeria’s tourism and cultural economy.”
