Shakira praises Burna Boy after their World Cup 2026 collaboration, calling his voice a perfect fit for the official theme song Dia Dia

Colombian singer Shakira has expressed strong admiration for Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy following their collaboration on “Dia Dia”, the official theme song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking in a recent interview, Shakira described the project as a standout moment in her career, praising Burna Boy’s vocal contribution and creative influence on the track.

She revealed that the Nigerian artist had always been part of her vision for the song, adding that she was pleased to finally bring the idea to life in what she described as a powerful and fulfilling collaboration.

The singer said Burna Boy’s input elevated the record significantly, describing his voice as a defining element in the final production.

“When I had Burna Boy record it, that was the cherry on top. I always wanted to do something with Burna and I think his voice just takes it to another level,” she said.

The collaboration forms part of FIFA’s newly released official soundtrack for the 2026 World Cup, which features a wide range of global stars and continues to generate strong international interest.

The album includes contributions from artists such as Rema, Anitta, LISA, Future, Tyla, Davido and Stormzy, reflecting the tournament’s global cultural reach and its emphasis on music as a unifying force.
