The programme, themed Emerging Stories, is being organised by Afolayan’s KAP Film Academy with the full support of the Oyo State Government.

It will provide aspiring filmmakers across the state with hands-on training in screenwriting, directing, cinematography, editing and film business.

Kunle Afolayan, joined by industry icons Tunde Kelani and Joke Silva, will mentor participants drawn from all 33 local government areas.

“This residency is about more than technical skills; it’s about instilling passion and discipline. Emerging Stories are the heartbeat of African cinema’s future,” Afolayan said.

Governor Oluseyi Makinde described the initiative as a bold step in youth empowerment and a strategic investment in the state’s cultural economy. “Our partnership with KAP Academy positions Oyo as a premier hub for creativity and innovation,” he noted.

The state government has also committed to road reconstruction leading to the KAP Film Village, which has become a global tourism and production destination since its unveiling in April.
