Oluwo accuses Ooni

Oluwo accuses Ooni of affair with ex-wife and questions child’s paternity in a viral video, alleging a conspiracy to harm him and destroy his throne

Oluwo accuses Ooni of a shocking betrayal, alleging in a viral Facebook video that the Ooni of Ife had an affair with his former wife while their marriage was still intact.

The traditional ruler also questioned the paternity of the child born during the union.

Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo, claimed that his ex‑wife, introduced to him from Canada, was part of what he described as a grand plot to harm him and undermine his throne.

“My things are hidden. None of you can endure what these people have done to me. They packaged a woman for me. I didn’t know her from Canada. It was a setup. She was in my house for over three years, communicating with them and plotting my death,” he said in the video.

According to the monarch, the woman allegedly attempted to poison him on two occasions and made several assassination attempts while secretly liaising with the Ooni and his allies.

“She had a child, whom I don’t even know if he’s my child now. I have to confirm that through DNA,” he added.

Oba Akanbi further alleged that after he sent the woman away, the Ooni personally arranged accommodation for her and the child, claiming the monarch was with them at a hotel.

He maintained that his rift with the Ooni of Ife “will never end,” signalling a deepening conflict between two of Yorubaland’s most high‑profile monarchs.
