The Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Olubiyi Toriola, Ajibise Ogo 1, has felicitated the sons and daughters of Modakeke and all Nigerians at home and in diaspora in commemoration of the New Year.

Oba Toriola in a press statement issued by the Ogunsua Palace Media Committee in Modakeke, expressed gratitude to God Almighty for his protection over the people for making it through another year.

The Ogunsua enjoined his subjects irrespective of their locations to celebrate the New Year with moderation devoid of rancour, violence and bickering.

The monarch stated that it is necessary to celebrate the new year in sober reflection with a view to taking stock of achievements and challenges of 2022 with a view to laying a solid foundation for the new year.

Oba Toriola also enjoined the people to be Christ-like by remembering to extend a hand of fellowship to the less-privileged members of the society during the New Year celebration.

He tasked the people to purge their minds of hatred, hostility, bickering and malice in order to enter the New Year with purity of minds to their neighbours and kinsmen.

Oba Toriola reminded the people that it is only a peaceful environment that can attract progressive ideas and commercial ventures.

He appealed to the youth to always remember to set their life advancement goal and conscientiously work towards it as a water-tight security for their future.

The Ogunsua enjoined the youth to be creative and resourceful and refuse to be willing tools in the hands of disgruntled politicians who might approach them to be used as political thugs for their selfish consideration.

The monarch reiterated that peace would always be his watchword and that he would be ready to do everything humanly possible within the legal framework of the nation to ensure that the people of his community are living in harmony with their neighbours in the interest of mutual development.

He stated that he was appreciative of the contributions of all the stakeholders in the town towards his coronation recently.

The Ogunsua particularly singled out His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the leadership of the Modakeke Progressives Union (MPU), the Ogunsua-in-Council and all the traditional chiefs for their support.

In his words: “May we all celebrate many years on the surface of the earth in good health and fulfillment of our community and individual aspirations”.
