Rotaract District 9141 members survive a car accident at Obudu Mountain Resort; one member requires urgent surgery following injuries

Members of Rotaract District 9141 survived a serious car accident during a joint Family of Rotary/Exchange Trip with Rotaract District 9142 at Obudu Cattle Ranch Resort on Saturday evening.

The incident occurred around 7pm on 6 December 2025, as members were en route to the resort’s water park. The vehicle was severely damaged, but all occupants escaped with their lives. Several members sustained injuries, with Rtr. Okafor Excellent Chinazaekpere suffering a waist dislocation.

Following the accident, X-ray tests were conducted, and Rtr. Okafor was referred to the Enugu Teaching Hospital.

The estimated cost for surgery and treatment has been set at three million, five hundred thousand naira. District officials have announced plans to solicit support to fund her care, emphasising that “an injury to one is an injury to all.”

Rtr. Paul C. Arungwa, District Rotaract Representative for District 9141, urged friends and well-wishers to remain calm while assistance is coordinated, expressing relief that no lives were lost. He extended apologies to the affected members and wished them a swift recovery.
