The Ibadan Film Village and Tourism Centre aims to boost Oyo’s economy and tourism, offering Nollywood a world-class filmmaking destination.
Preparations are in full swing for the establishment of the **Ibadan Film Village and Tourism Centre** at Olanla Village, Akinyele Local Government Area, Oyo State.
This ambitious project, spearheaded by the **Great Treasure Empowerment Driving Initiative For Transformation Foundation** in partnership with **Afosan Investment Limited**, is set to revolutionise tourism, arts, and economic development in the region.
The project’s initiator, **Apostle Afolabi Oyedeji**, who is also the CEO of the foundation, highlighted its transformative potential during the groundbreaking ceremony.
He revealed that the film village will include residential buildings, schools, hospitals, a lake, swimming pools, a palace, exhibition halls, and luxury hotels.
These facilities aim to turn the location into a thriving city while providing essential amenities to residents.
“When completed, the Ibadan Film Village will attract tourists globally, boosting the economic fortunes of the community and the state at large,” Oyedeji stated.
He added that the site would offer a unique environment for Nollywood filmmakers, positioning the village as a leading option for film production in Nigeria.
Construction is scheduled to commence in **January 2025**, with the project expected to be completed within two years.
The CEO expressed confidence that the film village would become a landmark destination, increasing revenue through hospitality, food, and transportation services tied to tourism activities.
During the sod-turning ceremony, **Oloye Lekan Alabi**, the Ekefa Olubadan, announced the project has received royal blessings from the **Olubadan of Ibadan**, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
The traditional ruler pledged full support throughout the project’s duration, emphasising its importance to the state.
Veteran Nollywood actor **Oyewole Olowomojuore**, popularly known as Baba Gebu, praised the initiative as groundbreaking.
He committed to using his influence to encourage leading Nollywood figures to embrace the project, ensuring its success.
The Ibadan Film Village and Tourism Centre is poised to enhance Oyo State’s cultural and economic landscape, making it a prominent hub for arts, entertainment, and tourism in Nigeria.
