The publications, released within a 24-hour window, mark the entry of the Trinity of State Decay into the global academic record, strengthening its visibility within international research and governance discourse.

Zenodo, an open access repository developed under CERN, published the 16,315-word treatise on Wednesday, while Harvard Dataverse followed on Thursday with its own listing of the work titled “The Trinity of State Decay (Part 1): Sovereign Decoupling and Rival Sovereignty — A Theoretical Statement.”

The framework advances a bold analytical proposition that state decay in the Global South is best understood as a sovereignty rupture, where formal state structures become increasingly disconnected from effective authority, giving rise to competing centres of power.

Dr Max Amuchie, Lead Researcher at SPIU, introduces key conceptual tools within the framework, including Sovereign Decoupling, Rival Sovereignty, the Institutional Mirage, and the Shadow Order, alongside other analytical constructs aimed at explaining governance breakdown and institutional fragmentation.

The publication of the work on both Zenodo and Harvard Dataverse provides multiple verifiable scholarly records, reinforcing its position within global academic systems and expanding its reach among researchers and policy analysts.

According to SPIU, the milestone also confirms that Amuchie has now produced two original analytical frameworks that have achieved publication on recognised global scholarly platforms.

The first, the Insecurity Triad, examined the interaction between state weakness, criminal entrepreneurship, and social fragmentation.

In a statement accompanying the publication, Dr Amuchie said the development should be viewed as an invitation to academic engagement rather than a conclusion, noting that theories gain strength through scrutiny, debate, and refinement.

He added that the ultimate value of any theoretical work lies in its capacity to interpret complex realities and contribute meaningfully to global understanding.

Beyond academic repositories, the Trinity of State Decay has also been made available on ResearchGate, Academia.edu, and Substack, broadening its accessibility to scholars, policymakers, journalists, and independent researchers worldwide.

SPIU described the publication as part of its growing contribution to research-driven analysis in governance, security, and state studies, particularly focused on structural challenges in developing political systems.

The institution further noted that the framework is expected to contribute to ongoing global debates on fragile states, hybrid governance systems, and the evolving nature of sovereignty in contemporary international relations.
