Kwara’s first batch of 558 Hajj pilgrims returns from Saudi Arabia, praising state support and dispelling rumours of poor welfare or delayed flights
Kwara pilgrims return 2025 Hajj after a spiritually fulfilling journey, with the first batch of 558 returning safely to Ilorin in the early hours of Saturday.
The contingent, which arrived aboard a Max Airline flight at 6:19 a.m., was led by Hajia Khadijat Otuyo, a Board member of the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board.
Pilgrims expressed deep gratitude to Allah and commended the Kwara State government for the exceptional support provided throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia. Many described this year’s pilgrimage as one of the most organised and rewarding in recent memory.
Alhaji Uthman Iyanda-Muhammad, the “Mufasir Agba” of Ilorin, said, “This year’s Hajj was exceptional. The welfare of Kwara pilgrims was top notch, including the provision of local food.” His sentiments were echoed by many others who participated in the sacred rites.
The returnees were quick to dispel false reports circulating on social media suggesting that Kwara pilgrims were stranded in Saudi Arabia.
Prince Muhammed Esuwoye clarified that flight schedules are solely under the control of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), not the State Pilgrims Board.
Alhaja Magaji Habeebat, another pilgrim, expressed appreciation to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the financial support that eased their pilgrimage.
She also praised the arrangements for accommodation, meals and transportation, which she said contributed to a stress-free spiritual experience.
The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board was widely commended for the seamless logistics and care provided, from the beginning of the journey to their return.
Many pilgrims highlighted the consistent provision of quality food, convenient lodging, and prompt transport to various religious sites as proof of the Board’s dedication.
As the remaining batches of pilgrims prepare to return, the positive feedback from the first group is expected to boost the confidence of relatives and prospective pilgrims for future Hajj operations.
