The achievement came after their World Cup-themed single, “Dai Dai”, climbed to number one on the prestigious chart this week, further strengthening Africa’s growing influence on the international music scene.

The Burna Boy Billboard Global 200 milestone places the Grammy-winning singer among a select group of global artistes who have reached the top position on one of Billboard’s most recognised worldwide rankings.

“Dai Dai” also reached number one on the Billboard Global 200 Excl. U.S. chart, while continuing its strong performance on other international platforms.

The song gained further momentum in the United States, moving 12 places higher to reach a new peak of number 55 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Burna Boy’s latest achievement adds to a growing list of international successes for Nigerian artistes, who have increasingly pushed Afrobeats into mainstream global music markets.

Meanwhile, fellow Nigerian singer Tems has also recorded a major accomplishment with her song “What You Need”, which climbed five places to reach a new peak of number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 after 15 weeks on the chart.

Tems recently became the first solo African artiste to top both the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and the Mediabase Urban radio airplay chart with the track.

The back-to-back successes from Burna Boy and Tems highlight the expanding global reach of Nigerian music and the growing recognition of African artistes on major international platforms.
