As the countdown to the Ipada Initiative and Ipada Carnival 2024 accelerates, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to host a historic briefing for African ambassadors in Nigeria.
Scheduled for September 19, 2024, at the Presidential Banquet Hall, Aso Villa, Abuja, the event will be a pivotal moment in promoting African tourism through Nigeria.
This briefing comes after a two-day session at La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort, where tourism stakeholders, including Minister of Tourism Lola Ade-John, commissioners, and directors from various state tourism boards, toured the facilities dedicated to the Ipada Carnival 2024.
The event garnered strong support from attendees, with Otunba Wanle Akinboboye providing updates on the preparations. The participants endorsed the event, praising the collaboration between Akinboboye and the tourism ministry.
President Tinubu’s involvement marks a historic move, as this is the first time a Nigerian leader will fully back a private cultural tourism initiative while serving as both Chief Host and Global Ambassador for the event.

IPADA Carnival
The Ipada Carnival 2024, scheduled from November 29 to December 8 at La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort, is expected to attract between five and ten million tourists annually.
The carnival will showcase African culture, arts, fashion, and music while also offering business opportunities through its “Business Unusual” programme.
The Ipada Initiative, spearheaded by Akinboboye in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, is designed to encourage the African diaspora to return to their roots, using Lagos as a gateway to explore Africa.
The ongoing initiative has already seen a steady influx of tourists, with the 2024 carnival expected to be the largest cultural event in African history.
Lagos, Ekiti, and Ondo state governments have endorsed the initiative, and President Tinubu has tasked the Minister of Tourism with mobilising all government entities to participate.
This aligns with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at improving Nigeria’s economy through tourism.
