Oluwasegun Oluwarotimi had no idea that August 9, 2021, would be the final day he would be able to stand on both legs.
He had left on his motorcycle to hustle for the day when he was almost killed in a confrontation with Ondo Amotekun Corps members.
To preserve his life, his left leg had to be amputated. Oluwasegun dropped off a passenger around the Araromi area of Akure when Amotekun operatives stormed the area and started shooting into the air.

He claimed nothing incriminating was found on him but an Amotekun operative shot him in his left leg at close range. The former commercial motorcyclist said his life was shattered by the incident. He said he was taken to the hospital and abandoned without proper medical care.

The father of three said lack of proper medical attention caused his leg to be amputated thus ending his ability to send his children to schools and cater to their needs.

Oluwasegun, in a letter written to the Commander of the Ondo Amotekun Corps and signed by his lawyer, Tope Temokun, urged the Amotekun Commander to cause proper investigation into the incident and disciplinary action taken against the officer who shot his leg.

Besides, he asked to be paid N2m as compensation to enable him to pick to start a small business that would be suitable for a disabled man. In the alternative, he requested a letter of offer of opportunity of means of livelihood so that he could live his normal life again.
