Organisers have announced that the grand finale will take place on December 14 and 15 at the Amadeo Event Centre, drawing thousands of visitors, investors, and cultural enthusiasts from across the globe.

Backed by the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) and the Enugu State Ministries of Culture, Tourism, and Agriculture, the festival aims to position Enugu as one of Africa’s emerging hubs for culture-driven tourism and creative investment.

“The festival is not just a cultural event,” organisers said in a statement on Monday. “It is an engine for local economic growth, hospitality development, and global creative exchange.”

**A Festival of Culture and Commerce**

Rooted in the Igbo tradition of celebrating the end of the farming season and the start of a new harvest, the New Yam Music Festival goes beyond ceremony.

This year’s edition seeks to connect heritage with enterprise, creating opportunities for cultural and economic collaboration.

Thousands of tourists, entrepreneurs, and diaspora investors are expected from the United Kingdom, China, Portugal, and Qatar, countries where the festival has previously held cultural tours.

The event is projected to inject millions into Enugu’s economy through hotel bookings, transport services, craft markets, and local cuisine.

According to Mr Big Sea, co-founder of the festival and a key stakeholder in Heritage and Culture:

“The festival was conceived as more than a celebration; it is an economic and cultural movement that reconnects people to their roots while opening doors for global engagement in African culture.”

The 2025 edition will also spotlight agricultural innovation, creative enterprise, and business partnerships, showcasing the immense potential within Nigeria’s cultural and farming heritage.

Festival highlights include a yam pyramid exhibition, indigenous art markets, masquerade displays, and performances by top Igbo artists blending traditional rhythms with contemporary sounds.

**Previous Success and Bigger Goals**

Last year’s festival drew over 3,000 participants, including royal fathers, government officials, and cultural icons. This year, organisers anticipate a record turnout, with Enugu’s hospitality sector already preparing for a surge in visitors.

Ahead of the December finale, the festival will host exclusive investor showcases in Lagos, designed to connect local and international business leaders with opportunities in Nigeria’s creative economy.
