The recommendation followed a motion moved by Hon. Bonu Solomon, Chairman of the House Committee on Tourism, Arts and Culture, during plenary in observance of World Tourism Day.

Solomon emphasised that showcasing Lagos’ rich cultural heritage would not only enhance global recognition but also drive significant economic benefits for the state.

Supporting the motion, Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu, representing Eti-Osa, proposed the creation of an annual tourism calendar to attract both local and international visitors.

Hon. Omolara Olumegbon highlighted the success of Lagos’ festive season, noting that during “Detty December” 2024, the Nigerian Immigration Service recorded over 500,000 arrivals, many drawn to the city’s vibrant cultural and festive atmosphere.
