Lagos State Ministry of Tourism backs Eko Fiesta, describing it as a creative, commerce-driven celebration that reflects the city’s vibrant cultural spirit
Lagos State Ministry of Tourism Eko Fiesta has received the official endorsement of the Lagos State Government, which hailed the project as a dynamic and creative initiative that truly captures the city’s cultural heartbeat.
The event, scheduled to run from December 22 to 24, 2025, is organised by Dosh and Wales Company, led by Damilare Osho and Dr. Wale Oyebanji, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
During a meeting with the organisers, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr Idris Aregbe, praised Eko Fiesta for its originality, inclusiveness, and strong alignment with the state’s mission to grow tourism and the creative economy.
Aregbe described the initiative as a powerful expression of Lagos’ creative synergy, noting how “music, art, culture, and commerce blend seamlessly to tell a compelling Lagos story.”
He emphasised that the Ministry’s role is not only to support entertainment but to back projects that empower local creatives and entrepreneurs.
“An event shouldn’t just entertain; it should also empower,” he said. “Eko Fiesta achieves this by connecting small businesses with wider audiences and promoting sustainable economic inclusion.”
Aregbe added that such initiatives advance the state’s broader economic goals by fostering creativity, generating employment, and boosting Lagos’ reputation as a global cultural destination.
Highlighting the city’s famed ‘Detty December’ season, he said the festival aligns perfectly with Lagos’ cultural identity — vibrant, innovative, and full of energy. “When creativity thrives, the economy follows,” he remarked.
The organisers, Dosh and Wales Company, explained that Eko Fiesta was conceived as more than a party. It is designed as a fusion of celebration, culture, and commerce, showcasing local music, art, and craftsmanship while giving small businesses greater visibility.
“Our vision is to make Eko Fiesta a space where celebration meets purpose,” they stated. “It will stand as a platform that reinforces Lagos’ image as Africa’s creative and tourism powerhouse.”
