The curfew will last for seven days—from Wednesday, July 30 to Tuesday, August 5, 2025—and will be enforced daily from 12:00 midnight to 4:00 a.m.

In a public statement, Alebiosu urged residents, especially non-indigenes, to respect the directive and remain indoors during the curfew hours for their safety and in observance of Ijebu cultural practices.

“This restriction is in observance of traditional rites. During the curfew hours, all movement is strictly prohibited,” the statement read.

Oba Adetona, one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning monarchs, passed away at the age of 91 on July 13 after 65 years on the throne. He was buried the following day in accordance with Islamic traditions.
