Following a prestigious debut at the Lagos International Theatre Festival, a phenomenal, sold-out 20-show Christmas run in Lagos, and a successful international tour in Pretoria, South Africa in partnership with the South African State Theatre, Dear Kaffy is set to captivate Lagos audiences once again.
Directed by the acclaimed Bolanle Austen-Peters, the “Queen of Theatre in Nigeria,” Dear Kaffy – Kike’s Story will be staged live at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos, from April 18–21 and April 26–27, 2025, with two shows daily at 3PM and 7PM.
Dear Kaffy – Kike’s Story offers a heartfelt and relatable narrative centered on Kikelomo Olota (Kike), a brilliant 35-year-old Lagos woman navigating the complexities of love, identity, family pressures, and societal expectations.
Celebrated for her academic achievements from a young age, Kike often felt like an outsider amongst her peers due to her lack of romantic experience. In her desire to fit in, she prioritized popularity over authenticity, leading her into a series of complicated relationships.

The play follows Kike’s journey through encounters with Femi, the charming manipulator; Emeka, the seemingly perfect man with a hidden marriage; and the mounting pressure from her parents, particularly her father, which leads her to Debo, a promising new suitor.
Just as Kike begins to open her heart again, her past resurfaces with the return of her ex, Tamuno, igniting emotional turmoil and forcing her to confront her history.
“The quality of storytelling and performance in Dear Kaffy is excellent, it sells itself,” says Bolanle Austen-Peters, founder of BAP Productions. “This play gives a voice to the everyday African woman while celebrating her strength and vulnerability. We are honoured to bring it back home for Easter.”
Set against the vibrant backdrop of Lagos, Dear Kaffy delves into the intricate emotional landscape of a modern African woman. Through a blend of humor, music, and sharp social commentary, the play challenges cultural norms and celebrates the courage required to embrace authenticity over conformity.
Produced by Mrs. Bolanle Austen-Peters, this theatrical masterpiece features a stellar cast including Uzo Osimkpa as Kike, alongside Yewande Osamein (Tolani), Abiola Lepe (Bidemi), Sharon Onyegbula (Shalewa), Ralph Okoro (Tamuno), Hector Amiwero (Debo), Obiora Maduegbuna (Debo), Floyd Igbo (Femi), the veteran Bimbo Manuel as Father, and Bukola Ogunnote as Mother. The production also boasts a talented crew, with Ikenna Jude Okpala as Stage Manager and musical direction by Kehinde Oretimehin and Deji Aremu.

Returning to its origins in Lagos, Dear Kaffy promises a revitalized and enriched experience, building upon the emotional depth that captivated audiences across Nigeria and South Africa.
Whether experiencing it for the first time or returning for another dose of laughter and tears, Dear Kaffy guarantees a soulful, hilarious, and unforgettable Easter theatrical experience.

Hundreds of tourists gathered at Egypt’s Abu Simbel temple to witness the twice-yearly sunrise ceremony illuminating Pharaoh Ramses II’s statue
Hundreds of tourists gathered at Egypt’s Abu Simbel temple on Thursday to witness a spectacular sunrise phenomenon in which sunlight illuminated the face of the statue of Pharaoh Ramses II, an event that occurs only twice a year.

The ancient astronomical ceremony drew visitors from different parts of the world to the archaeological site in southern Egypt on October 22, one of two dates associated with the phenomenon.
The second occurrence takes place on February 22, when the rising sun illuminates the temple’s interior.
Egyptian tour guide Yasser Fouad described the occasion as extraordinary, saying some visitors had stayed overnight to secure the opportunity to witness the event.
“Today is an extraordinary day, everyone is keen, there are people who stayed over the night, foreigners who actually spent the night in Abu Simbel to see this phenomenon,” Fouad said.
The Great Temple of Ramses II at Abu Simbel dates back to the 13th century BC and is among Egypt’s most prominent archaeological attractions.
Built during the reign of Ramses II, one of ancient Egypt’s most powerful pharaohs, the temple is renowned for its monumental statues and sophisticated architectural design.
The twice-yearly sunrise phenomenon is a major attraction, drawing visitors eager to witness the interaction between sunlight and the temple’s ancient structure.
The dates have traditionally been associated with significant moments in Ramses II’s life.
October 22 is commonly linked to his birthday, while February 22 is associated with his accession to the throne.
However, the precise historical reasons behind the dates remain debated.
Some archaeologists have proposed alternative explanations, including that they may have marked the pharaoh’s coronation and birthday.
Abu Simbel underwent a major international rescue operation in the 1960s, when archaeologists and engineers relocated the temples to protect them from flooding caused by the construction of the Aswan High Dam.
The monumental structures were cut into large blocks and reassembled at a higher location, preserving the site for future generations.
The relocation was one of the most significant archaeological preservation projects of the 20th century.
Despite the move, the temple continues to attract visitors for its ancient Egyptian art, monumental architecture and remarkable alignment with the rising sun.

The annual gatherings highlight the enduring appeal of Egypt’s archaeological heritage and the continuing fascination with the astronomical knowledge and engineering achievements of its ancient civilisation.
