Edo Carnival 2025 will transform Benin City into Nigeria’s cultural capital with a week of music, art, and heritage from 21–27 December
Edo Carnival 2025 is poised to transform Benin City into a dazzling cultural hub from 21 to 27 December, celebrating the heritage, creativity, and artistry of the Edo people in grand style.
The maiden edition, themed “Our Culture, Our Pride,” promises a spectacular fusion of tradition and innovation, attracting visitors, tourists, and performers from across Nigeria and beyond for seven unforgettable days of unity and cultural pride.
Unfolding in three dynamic phases—pre-launch activities (1 October–30 November), launch events (1–20 December), and the carnival week itself—Edo Carnival 2025 aims to build anticipation through vibrant promotions, community activations, and immersive cultural engagement.
Among the standout highlights are the Grand Opening Ceremony on 21 December, the Cultural Band Competition and Night Concert on 22 December, a Trade Fair and Comedy Show on 23 December, Pageant Night on 24 December, the Christmas Family Fiesta on 25 December, and the Grand Band Parade on 26 December, culminating in the Awards and Closing Concert on 27 December, presided over by Governor Monday Okpebholo.
A captivating lineup of carnival bands—including Eniware, Osigo, Queen Idia, Ohanmian, Enhenugha, the Governor’s Band, Royal Band, and Black Rio—will bring Edo’s royal traditions to life through colourful costumes, music, and storytelling.
Top Nigerian artists will also headline performances, blending Afrobeat with Edo’s indigenous rhythms in a powerful display of cultural expression.
To boost global visibility, organisers have partnered with Trace TV, Soundcity, and Africa Magic, ensuring extensive media coverage and worldwide engagement.
Speaking about the celebration, Mr. Daniel Eromosele, CEO of Peak Rendezvous Entertainment Global Ltd, the official organisers, described Edo Carnival as “a celebration of who we are as a people.”
“This year, we’re blending history with innovation to create a cultural experience that entertains, inspires pride, and connects Edo sons and daughters across the world,” Eromosele said.
Echoing this sentiment, Hon. Emmanuel Okoebor, Chairman of the Carnival Committee and Commissioner for Finance, noted that the event serves as “a bridge between culture and development.”
“Through this carnival, Edo State is showcasing its heritage while promoting tourism, creativity, and youth empowerment. It’s a bold statement that Edo is open for culture, business, and global collaboration,” he affirmed.
Beyond its dazzling festivities, Edo Carnival 2025 stands as a platform for cultural preservation, artistic innovation, and economic growth. From fashion and crafts to cuisine and music, it reinforces Edo’s reputation as a beacon of African heritage.
As Benin City prepares to host guests from around the world, one thing is certain — Edo Carnival 2025 will be an extraordinary celebration where tradition meets glamour and culture takes centre stage.
